Our teachers are hand-picked for their specialties, whether it is in performance, engineering, technique or teaching ability they all stand a head above the rest.  We have teachers that teach, piano, guitar, vocal, acting, drums, bass and violin.

Staff:

Dean Bruce – Senior Partner and Senior Drum Teacher

Dean Bruce

It was not until about 4 years ago that I was given the opportunity to teach and it changed my life.  I did not want to be a stuffy teacher that sticks to the books and tries to show you how many times Beethoven uses a slow movement in his fifteenth quartet.  I believed that you could teach kids the fundamentals of music from the music that they love to listen to.

I remember the first time that I pulled out a Green Day book and said, “Anyone want to play “Boulevard of Broken Dreams?” and the kids eyes got huge.  I will use anything to teach people music, Yes, I am that guy that believes that Rock Band and Guitar Hero do have some educational value.

This year I set out to prove my point by opening up a studio with my partner that would allow all the disparate teachers to come together and do what they love to do, Teach!

You can contact Dean at (619) 905-9823

Jerrie -  Senior Piano Teacher

Jerrie Dean

Jerrie started learning piano when she was 5 years old and began writing songs at the age of 11. She gave her first private piano lesson at the  age of 17.

During high school, she played for theater productions and choirs.

Through the years she has played for private and corporate parties and other different venues and is fully booked during the holidays.

“I love teaching and I specialize in teaching piano to kids 5-7.  I incorporate games into the lessons and use fun words to help kids remember theory.  I take great pride in teaching everyone with positive reinforcement and praise.  I believe listening to my students is as important as talking to them; that way I can customize the lesson to how a child learns.”

Sarah – Teacher for Musical Theater and all group singing and acting classes, plus piano and vocals

Sarah

Sarah teaches our musical theater classes and our group pop vocal classes.  She also specializes in teaching the youngest kids and accepts piano students as young as 4.

“I have a strong passion for piano and I have been playing for 12 years. I am a classically trained piano player with many years of experience.

In High School I played piano for my choir for 2 years as well as playing for various events such as Christmas parties and Offertories at my church.

I graduated from Coronado School of the Arts in Musical Theater and have a thorough understanding of dancing, acting, and singing.”

Sarah also coaches children to prepare for theater auditions and singing events.

David Bramley – Senior Teacher, Drums, Bass, Guitar

Dave

“I moved to San Diego about four years back from sunny old England, where I had just graduated with degrees in Music an d Composing.

As a musician, I teach all forms of guitar (although personally I spend a lot of time on shred-style metal, jazz and blues) and bass from beginner to advanced.

I’ve have a great deal of experience teaching, performing live as a studio musician. I’m also more than comfortable as an engineer. Although there are many people who claim studio experience, I have references at Rubber Biscuit and Square Center Studios, Nottingham, and Adelphi Studios, Manchester, and have a solid portfolio.

I am really excited about joining the Music Time team and can not wait to meet all of you.”

Mike Press – Teacher for Guitar and Drums

Mike

Mike is one of our newest teachers and has a local following with his band, “Bankhead Press”.

Mike has years of experience teaching and playing in front of large audiences.

Mike  “blossomed in the night clubs and the bars of this town” (lyric from Wayward Peoples Hearts), that town being Boston, MA.

Now living in San Diego, CA he is emerging as a well respected singer/songwriter in the Southern California music scene as well as retaining his long time standing as a key figure in the Boston roots rock music family tree.

Brent Reuter – Teacher for Piano, Vocal and Bass

Brent

Brent is one of our newer teachers and he teaches piano and also vocal lessons.

Brent is a listener and listens to what his students have to say.  He concentrates on teaching the basics and then shows his students how to add improvisation, which  helps bring out the natural talent in each student.

Brent believes that your voice is an instrument that needs training and practice to bring out the natural singing voice that everyone has.

Brent is one of our most helpful teacher and goes above and beyond to help around the studio and volunteers

Wow!, this was a top quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get something done
